WHAT ARE INJECTABLES?

“INJECTABLES” include all products delivered via injection by the doctor or nurse injector in the office setting. Most have local anesthetic included in the product making the injection far more comfortable for you. The three categories of injectables are (1) “Neuromodulators” such as the very familiar Botox™, which weaken the facial muscles which cause frown lines and wrinkles, (2) “Volumizers”  or “Fillers” which restore volume (usually to the lips, cheeks, chin, jawline or temples) for a more youthful or attractive appearance, and (3) “Skin Boosters” which enhance the quality of skin, stimulate new cell growth and collagen production, and help reverse the signs of aging or sun damaged skin.

The aging process in the face generally includes two main changes, the first of which is the relaxation and loosening of skin and facial fat, resulting in jowls or squaring of the more youthful oval shaped face. The second change is the actual loss of facial fat, particularly in the midface. The Restylane family of injectables are useful to volumize these changes of the aging face. Dr. Kalus will carefully evaluate you in person and advise you on what treatment options might be best, including determining if you would be a good candidate for injectables. Such treatments are performed in the office and have lidocaine (local anesthetic) included such that the discomfort of the treatment is minimal and very well tolerated. Most of the hyaluronic acid (HA) fillers last 6-12 months

Radiessee / FILLER

Radiesse is a calcium hydroxylapatite filler material that can last up to 18-24 months and can be used in the face, hands, or buttocks. If you are interested in augmenting your buttocks but either do not have enough of your own body fat or prefer to avoid surgery, this can be an excellent option. The so-called “BBL “or “Brazilian Butt Lift” is surgery requiring anesthesia and liposuction from one part of the body with transfer of that fat to the buttocks. This procedure is known to have certain risks, whereas Radiesse injections are NOT surgical and are easily  and safely performed by qualified injectors in the office setting just like any other injectable.
